Criss Angel MINDFREAK Background

One of the preeminent talents in the world of magic, Criss Angel is an innovator who has revolutionized the art of illusion. After devoting his youth in Long Island, New York, to studies of magic, mysticism, music and his hero Harry Houdini, Angel emerged in the early 1990s as a visionary new talent. His first TV appearances and collaboration with writer and director Clive Barker on the film Lord of Illusions led to the original off-Broadway incarnation of Criss Angel Mindfreak.

The young performer established his prowess not only on the theater's stage but on the streets outside, where he wowed pedestrians with many of the illusions, stunts and feats he would later perform for viewers on the TV adaptation that debuted on A&E in 2005. In addition to Criss Angel MINDFREAK's five-year run on A&E, Angel's illusions have been seen on a wide variety of TV specials and shows. In 2006, he partnered with Cirque du Soleil to create Criss Angel Believe, a cutting-edge production that opened at the Luxor Las Vegas in 2008. In 2015, he presided over the creation of The Supernaturalists, a touring show featuring a variety of performers that premiered at the Foxwoods Resort Casino.
